Two killed in separate shootings in Little Woods on Tuesday, police say

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police are investigating two fatal shootings in the Little Woods area of New Orleans East on Tuesday (July 11).

The first happened early Tuesday morning in the 7600 block of Shorewood Boulevard. Police say a 19-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound around 1:15 a.m. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Later in the afternoon, the NOPD says a 47-year-old woman was shot in the 7900 block of Lehigh Street, around 1:35 p.m. She was taken to a hospital where she died.

Police say 57-year-old Gregory Chapman turned himself in following the fatal shooting, and was booked with second-degree murder. The NOPD said it appears the fatal shooting resulted from a domestic conflict.

Both shootings remain under investigation.
